Ukraine Weekly Update 29th September 2023 Dr. Rob Campbell 30 Sept 2023

Fist Pump From Yaroslav Hunka - former SS. Was he exchanging pumps with Z? This week saw the anniversary of the Nord Stream pipeline attack and I still have no idea who was responsible - though if I were a betting man, I’d place my money on Sleepy Joe Biden and the neo-cons (Cui Bono). On the battlefields, there has been lots of carnage but little movement from either side, though the Ukrainians appear to be preparing for an attack across the Dnieper in the Kherson region. So there may be some movement soon. In terms of newsworthiness, the standing ovation given to a Nazi in the presence of Zelensky at Canada’s parliament has dominated (see above photo). This incident, discussed below, has caused international outrage in which Western countries, such as Poland and Israel (along with Russia), have expressed their indignation and have made demands of the Canadian political establishment. Some believe it was a parliamentary faux pas while others believe it was planned. The Biden/Trump fiasco in the US continues and Trump may have been guilty of business fraud: none of us can know. But Biden’s impeachment hearings are considering alleged crimes of a different order since he stands accused of abusing his office for personal gain. A new narrative of hope (Ukraine will win one day) is being developed and consolidated (see below) but some deluded souls are still clinging to the Ukraine is Winning narrative.

How Will The Biden Administration Cope With Its Loss In Ukraine?

While this piece will touch on the war in Ukraine it is more about the U.S., and the Biden administration, and how they will cope with their defeat in their war on Russia. Please keep that in mind when commentating. Washington's moment of recognizing the defeat in Ukraine, and its consequences, has yet to arrive. In his latest piece (archived) Seymour Hersh reports on the state of the war and of significant differences of opinion between the U.S. intelligence services: There are significant elements in the American intelligence community, relying on field reports and technical intelligence, who believe that the demoralized Ukraine army has given up on the possibility of overcoming the heavily mined three-tier Russian defense lines and taking the war to Crimea and the four oblasts seized and annexed by Russia. The reality is that Volodymyr Zelensky’s battered army no longer has any chance of a victory. The war continues, I have been told by an official with access to current intelligence, because Zelensky insists that it must. There is no discussion in his headquarters or in the Biden White House of a ceasefire and no interest in talks that could lead to an end to the slaughter. “It’s all lies,” the official said, speaking of the Ukrainian claims of incremental progress in the offensive that has suffered staggering losses, while gaining ground in a few scattered areas that the Ukrainian military measures in meters per week. ... The American intelligence official I spoke with spent the early years of his career working against Soviet aggression and spying has respect for Putin’s intellect but contempt for his decision to go to war with Ukraine and to initiate the death and destruction that war brings. But, as he told me, “The war is over. Russia has won. There is no Ukrainian offensive anymore, but the White House and the American media have to keep the lie going. “The truth is if the Ukrainian army is ordered to continue the offensive, the army would mutiny. The soldiers aren’t willing to die any more, but this doesn’t fit the B.S. that is being authored by the Biden White House.”

Pepe Escobar: BRICS 11 - Strategic Tour de Force

12:37 GMT 25.08.2023 BRICS Summit 2023 - Sputnik International, 1920, 25.08.2023 © Sputnik / Grigory Sysoev / Go to the mediabank Subscribe International India Africa Chinese President Xi Jinping defined all the major decisions embedded in the 15th BRICS summit in South Africa as “historic”. That may be seen as an understatement. It will take time for the Global South, or Global Majority, or “Global Globe” (copyright President Lukashenko), not to mention the stunned collective West, to fully grasp the enormity of the new strategic stakes. President Putin, for his part, described the negotiations on BRICS expansion as quite difficult. By now a relatively accurate picture is emerging of what really went down on that table in Johannesburg. India wanted 3 new members. China wanted as many as 10. A compromise was finally reached, with 6 members: Egypt, Iran, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates (UAE), Argentina and Ethiopia. So from now on it’s BRICS 11. And that’s just the beginning. Starting with the rotating Russian presidency of BRICS on January 1, 2024, more partners will be progressively included, and most certainly a new round of full members will be announced at the BRICS 11 summit in Kazan in October next year. So we may soon progress to BRICS 20 – on the way to BRICS 40. The G7, for all practical purposes, is sliding towards oblivion.
